Live Music in the Square
We are hosting a concert of live electronic music tomorrow, or August 21st, in Waterloo Public Square. The hottest days of summer are finally past us, so let’s relax and enjoy some great music!
New and old friends of Waveform are playing at this show. We’ll have a mix of ambient, glitch hop, synthesizer EDM, and more. More details here.
What have we been up to?
Waveform Collective has had a busy summer. With most of our core organizers having freer schedules, we were able to get more organized and pursue interesting ideas for events! So what have we been doing?
We were awarded a grant by the Region of Waterloo to provide shows that are of lower cost to you and pay more to the artists!
We created a website, at wfrm.ca, to make our collective more publicly searchable and accessible to learn about. Go check it out. This also means you can email us at [email protected], and myself at [email protected].

We moved to Google Workspace for Nonprofits (in which we were barred from using it many, many times due to Google’s incompetence) but it is now working.
We published a third edition of Sound Kitchen! It is out both with physical copies and digitally. We also made a custom flipbook using html and js so that we can distribute digital copies that you can actually own. (Get it here)

We ran a booth at Kitchener’s Multicultural Fest, to expand our reach into new communities. We sold zines, gave away brochures & stickers, and hosted live performers. It was a fun time; thank you so much to everyone who came and supported or played.

We have been hosting our monthly meetups in visitor’s centre. Thanks for coming, and as always, register for next month’s here.

Closing notes
Thank you for reading! This newsletter came in a bit of a delay: with school and life getting in the way, it was hard to keep up. Waveform has gone through a lot of change and growth in the past term and I’m excited with the direction it is going. What music takes you through the summer? To keep you cool in the scorching heat? Is it the glistening arpeggios of Merriweather Post Pavilion or the fuzzy sound bath of re.sort? Whatever it is, fall is peaking around the corner. Everything moves faster than we can control and we have no choice but to look onwards.
